Class Officers
I have been a Class Officer all four years while in high school at Dakota. Freshman and sophomore year I was the Treasurer, and junior and senior year I was/am the Vice President. However, the title didn't really matter, as we all did the same amount of work and did the same things. As a Freshman Class Officer, I didn't have to do a whole lot. Sophomore year we were in charge of magazine sales to fundraise for prom and graduation. In order to maximize our profit, we came up with the idea to split into teams. The team that sold the most magazines would receive breakfast pizza. This proved to be effective, since our fund had a decent amount in it. After sophomore year, we received a new class advisor. With our new class advisor, we planned prom. This became a bit of a challenge because we couldn't find anywhere within budget to host it. After deciding on the cafeteria, we had to go buy decorations, and then eventually, we had to decorate for it. Although it took us eight hours to complete, the decorations were quite satisfactory. Now, as a Senior Class Officer, I am helping plan graduation. So far, I have helped pick out a class motto, song, flower, and color. Once it gets closer to the time of graduation, I will be responsible for helping to decorate for it.
As a Class Officer, I have had to help make decisions on behalf of what the entire grade would want. This will help me in the future when I have to make decisions on behalf of other people. I will be able to keep in mind what is best for the whole group. With the leadership skills I have gained as a class officer, I will be better prepared for the future.
